Hello Beer Friends! Tomorrow night is the 2nd Annual CMI BOS mini competition. The meeting is at 7:30 pm 1810 Courtland Ave Norwood, OH. We will have prizes for the top three brewers who enter the competition and everyone entering should bring what is entered to share with those in attendance. We are taking 3 beers per CMI member and the beers need to be in normal competition form with unmarked bottles and a paper attached with a rubber band with the name of the brewer and the BJCP 2015 Style Category for that beer. 1 bottle per entry and only one round of judging. Please come and show off your brewing skills! Cheers and see you all there!
We hope you are happy that the warm weather is moving in and that you have knocked the dust off your brew rig, if it hibernated for the winter months. May is going to be a busy and eventful time for the CMI members, it marks the start of Maibock season, which is great since the celebration of 500 years of Reinheitsgebot is starting up in Germany and abroad. In fact that is the theme for the AHA Big Brew Day this year with recipes for Altbier (one we got CMI on the board with at the NHC round 1 thus far) and Ginger Ale. See the CMI calendar for more information on this Brew Day being hosted by Rivertown Brewery and Barrel House. Then join us on May 12th for the CMI annual meeting at Mt. Carmel Brewing, this one is always a great time. Finally we cap off the Month with the Graff Family Brew Out on the 29th and again the calendar has all your event information. Then, when May is over the June meeting is going to be a CMI club night Best of Show competition, complete with guest judges, prizes for the top 3 home brews, and the calendar will have all the information you want and need.
We hope you all are brewing great beer, having success in your competitions, and that you will bring a friend to our meetings. Don’t be selfish, bring some brew to the meetings and events to share with everyone, and as always brew on brewing pals! Prost!
Hello fellow home brewers! March is upon us and it will be a start to much fun and lots of events for CMI. Thank you to all our volunteer judges and stewards for being available to help at the upcoming All American Homebrew competition, we will have our hands full as we hit the 350 entry limit! We will have lots of great beer styles and homebrew entries to handle, pour, and sample with entries from all over the country and abroad. CMI would like to extend a big thank you to the Cincinnati Beer Fest team for helping us with the venue and providing the 40 beer fest tickets that we had to provide to the first volunteers registered to help us. CMI also has the ability to offer discounted tickets for those who did not get the free ticket and volunteered, but still would like a deal to get into the beer fest, contact Tim McKee if interested. Don’t miss out on this great event!
Luke Shropshire, one of the brewers for Mt. Carmel Brewing Company, and the winner from last year’s All American will be having his Key Lime Gose poured at the Blank Slate Brewing booth at the beer fest, and be sure to stop by Mt.Carmel’s booth to see what Mike, Chris, Luke, and the rest of the production crew have been up to over there.
